Homecoming

I can't wait, just a few days and I'll be eating my mum's food. I miss my friends and I can't wait to see them. All of them gathered and did a big homecoming party for me. This has been the longest time that I've been away from my family and friends and I'm just thrilled to see them.

My sisters are going to pick me up with my father at the airport and then we're going for lunch in a restaurant. Half of my relatives will be there. I haven't seen them for a long time so they'll probably all have gifts!

I'm just kidding, I'm staying here for another 7 months :) enjoy home my friends and come back soon!

Winter in the US

Everybody is going home and a small number of us are staying. I don't think it will be a bad experience. The thing that I hope for the most is finding a job over the month of December. If I could go to Chicago or Washington to visit my relatives that would be the best thing ever. Some of us will spend 10 months in Lima, so it would be great if we could spend December somewhere else. Working on a beach in Miami, at a camp in Los Angeles or in a school in Atlanta, doesn't matter, just as long as we experience the new culture, meet new people and search for new opportunities in life we won't complain.

We still hope to be at Times square at midnight of New years eve, but even if it's not possible, we can dream right? :)

Racers win against #1 in the nation!

UNOH Racers have tied against Lawrence Tech before few days in an away game that was full of mistakes and the bad field took the best of the Racers making them slip and win it just in overtime.
Going in to the toughest game of the season against Rio Grande, that was not the performance Racers wanted, but they had to satisfy with it.
The desire and the will to work led them to the victory against Rio Grande in an away game.
Supported by incredible fans that traveled with them all the was to Rio, they were outplayed but took their chances and won 2:1!!!

Kids rule!

This week, as a part of Language and Culture class at UNOH, we went to Elida elementary school to hang out with little guys and girls that wanted to know everything about our countries.
It has been truly amazing and we can all say THANK YOU! to our teachers for coming up with this idea and making it happen. The kids have responded great and they had a lot of questions about every single thing.
Some of them founded our way of speaking English weird, some wanted to know which holidays we celebrate, others wanted to know how our houses look like!
All in all, I'm very grateful and thankful for the opportunity to spend time with these kids, it took me back home where I was spending a lot of time with my 2 younger sisters and their friends. Thank you Caitlin and Danielle for taking me back home!!

Big Game

After a disappointing loss at the hands of Davenport University, Racers are in front of a big challenge. There are only 5 games left in the regular season and to keep their 2nd place and home court advantage in most of the playoff race, they have to win each and every one of them. One of the things guys will experience next weekend is playing on turf, on an indoor field in Michigan at the university of Michigan-Dearborn. For the most players it will be the first time playing on an indoor field. Just a few week before the end of the regular season, Racers hold the 2nd position in the conference, they are getting better and are preparing for the conference tournament and much wanted win in the finals and a trip to the National tournament. Practice makes perfect!

Getting ready

UNOH Racers 5:0 Marygroove

A much better effort was expected by Marygroove. They fought, but couldn't do nothing against Racers. Jure Špiler scored twice, as well as Ngatcha, Tendei Jirira added one as well as UNOH wins again and prepares themselves for the biggest game of the season against Davenport. This Friday they are going to Davenport and on Saturday they are playing what will certainly their toughest game this year and maybe the toughest game that soccer program experienced. Also, Racers forward Jorge Salcido had a successful surgery on his knee and we wish him best of luck in recovery.
